March 5th Snow Report

Straightline Guides - Tuesday, March 05, 2019

For the first time in years, Steamboat resort has a 100” base at the summit of the mountain. Nearly 27’ of snow has accumulated at the top of the mountain this season! This past weekend was incredible, with 24” falling on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday brought about a foot of wet, and heavy powder which was followed on Sunday with another foot of light and fluffy champagne powder! Snow continued to fall all day, and conditions were amazing everywhere on the resort. We saw a break in the storm on Monday, with plenty of leftover powder and blue bird skies! Today has been sunny again, although some clouds seem to be rolling in. We should see some more snow tonight, and the storm should continue all week with the best chance for powder on Thursday morning.  [Read more...]

February 26th Snow Report

Straightline Guides - Tuesday, February 26, 2019

Steamboat Resort conditions remained soft and powdery over the weekend even with the large crowds due to the Winter Wondergrass festival. We saw about 5 inches fall on Saturday night with warm and sunny conditions on Sunday. Monday morning brought some very flat light with it in the morning, but throughout the day the skies cleared, and the sun came out in the later afternoon.  [Read more...]

February 15th Snow Report

Straightline Guides - Friday, February 15, 2019

Wet, slushy, spring powder! The past two days have brought some heavy powder, but we are not complaining! The storm cycle brought a total of 16 inches and conditions on the mountain are great! Temps are warmer than it looks, creeping into the mid 30’s midday and lift lines are short!  [Read more...]

February 7th Snow Report

Straightline Guides - Thursday, February 07, 2019

The snow is falling again in Steamboat Springs! We saw about 6-9” on Wednesday morning and another 3” fell throughout the day. This morning we woke up to another 4” of light and fluffy snow. The champagne powder atop such a solid base makes for some incredible skiing! Head to Morningside lift FIRST THING for steep, fresh lines. A short hike to No Names, North Saint Pats or East Face will give you access to some of the steepest lines on Steamboat Resort. If it is a windy day however, we do not suggest going over there because it becomes quickly windswept and icy. [Read more...]

Straightline Guides - Friday, January 18, 2019

The official report says that 13 inches fell on Thursday night at mid-mountain, but there was easily 20+ inches at the top this morning and it continued to fall all day making for the deepest powder day of the season, and for that matter it is the deepest day in the past two years! Snow was heavy, deep and surfy with free refills all day! [Read more...]

January 11th Snow Report

Straightline Guides - Friday, January 11, 2019

This week started off with some surprise powder days! On Sunday we saw a few inches long with high winds which closed several lifts. However, Sundown remained open and the winds pushed most of the powder into the trees on sunny side which made for soft turns in the trees. On Monday we saw a few more inches and surprisingly soft conditions. [Read more...]

January 1st Snow Report

Straightline Guides - Tuesday, January 01, 2019

We started off the new year right this year with 6 inches of fresh powder which made for some amazing turns! To escape the crowds, we suggest heading over to South Peak lift and checking out Broadway trees, Land of the Little People and South Peak trees. 1:30 trees stayed pretty soft all day, as did the golf course. The golf course is accessible from Pony lift. [Read more...]
